Start the New Year in a Fresh Space: Time to Declutter Your Home
The start of the new year comes with many resolutions and promise. At HOMEPOINT, we wanted to help you get started on these resolutions by giving you ideas on how to clear up your living spaces and start fresh.
Decluttering is widely known to be a self-care practice as it gives you control over your home, your things, and your life, which can positively impact your overall wellbeing. When you declutter your home, you are giving yourself the space, clarity, and inspiration to work on yourself.
Decluttering is the practice of removing unused items from your space, and finding the right place for the items you do use, creating a clear and clean space. A clear space can create a clear mind that can focus on more important things.
Living Room:
In your living room, consider furniture that has good storage space. Units that include cabinets are a great example. Cabinets are a great place to store and organize items that don’t need to be on display at all times. You can also reconsider your current sofa for something with hidden storage space. Remember not everything needs to be stored, some things should be let go.
Here is a great example of GRAY STAR TV unit that will help you achieve clear living room space:
Bedroom:
A clear and decluttered bedroom is key to a good night’s rest. Make sure you have the right amount of storage for your clothes, shoes, and accessories by investing in cabinets with ample space and shelving. Give away items you no longer see yourself wearing, and put the items you want to keep in a designated place. Dig into those drawers one at a time, don’t overwhelm yourself by doing the whole room at once.
You can also look into beds with hidden storage spaces to pack away seasonal items like rugs, Christmas decorations, or even those summer fits that won’t do in the winter.

Dining Room:
Complete your dining room with a side piece to help store your dinnerware, and give your kitchen cabinets and drawers some room to breathe. Serving platters, that fancy cutlery, and other pieces that are not used daily do not need to be in the kitchen or within reach at all times. Make sure they are clean and dry before storing them for your next event

It is also important to consider that some spaces feel cluttered as a result of too much or wrongly fitted furniture. You may need to restyle or redesign your home, move pieces around, or simply give a piece or two away. If you need any assistance or would like some expert advice on how to redecorate your home for a less cluttered feel, do not hesitate to contact our interior design team.
We hope this helps you begin your decluttering journey!
